These candied orange slices dipped in chocolate are one of my all-time favorite treats to bring to holiday gatherings because they are incredibly simple to make, yet a total show stopper. Every time I bring these, people are obsessed with them.
I got the inspiration for these orange slices from Bissinger’s, which is a chocolatier company in St. Louis. My mom worked at Bissinger’s for a short while, and that job came with some perks. She managed the events that Bissinger’s catered, and anytime there was chocolate leftover, she could take some home. It was so much fun because there was a constant stream of chocolate coming into our house, and I got to try a ton of their delicacies.
It was love at first bite when I had Bissinger’s chocolate dipped orange slices for the first time. They are perfectly balanced. Fresh and fruity, yet rich and creamy. A few years later Trader Joe’s came out with “sweetened dried orange slices,” I instantly thought back to the Bissenger’s chocolate and knew I wanted to try the replicate them!
These oranges come in a package already candied, so all you have to do is dip them in chocolate! I almost feel guilty that they are so easy to make. So, If you’re looking for something to bring to whatever holiday gathering you’re attending this season, make life a little easier and spend 10 minutes making these. The time you save can be spent with your loved ones because that’s what the holidays are all about.
